Downtown Arlington’s November First Thursdays will turn several blocks into a walkable evening of fire performance, music, art and hands-on activities on Thursday, November 5, from 5 to 8 p.m.

The monthly gathering spreads its attractions across public plazas and nearby businesses, so visitors can choose a short stop or build an entire evening around the district.

Organizers list the fire shows, face painting, planting activity and photo walk as free. The page does not state a cost for the community run, and some businesses charge for food, drinks and entry.

Start with the fire shows

Radiant Solz is scheduled for two 40-minute performances at Rotary DREAM Park, 100 E. Front St., beginning at 6 and 7 p.m.

The shows are free, and the park also serves as the meeting point for a separate community run. Its 6 p.m. check-in overlaps the first show, so expect both groups at the park around that time.

Because the performances are outdoors and draw a crowd, plan to arrive early.

Make a loop through art and music

At Arlington City Hall, 101 W. Abram St., visitors can watch a temporary pumpkin installation take shape on the front steps.

MESA Architecture Group designed the build, and Green’s Produce is supplying the pumpkins; people who want to help with lifting and setup can use the organizer’s volunteer form.

City Center Plaza, outside the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library, will host a first-come, first-served planting activity with space for about 25 to 30 participants.

Gloves and hand shovels will be provided, and the organizer says the planting is free and open to all ages.

The plaza is also slated for free face painting and a Ballet Folklórico performance from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., followed by a family-friendly wooden turkey painting activity in the ReBrary Room.

Street musicians are expected around downtown from 5 to 8 p.m., giving visitors something to discover while walking between stops.
