Arlington will celebrate its 150th anniversary with a signature tree planting and time capsule ceremony at 2 p.m. Friday, November 6, at Rotary Dream Park, 100 E. Front St., in Downtown. The event is free, according to the city's October 30 announcement.

Officials will plant a 95-gallon Chinquapin Oak on the park's west side, near where Arlington began along the rail line in 1876, and dedicate a capsule filled with items donated by local organizations. The capsule is set to be opened in 2126. The planting caps a year-long effort to plant an average of 150 new trees a month, and the city credits the Arlington Tomorrow Foundation for supporting both projects.

Free parking is available around Downtown, including the 101 Center garage and along Front, Abram, Center and Mesquite streets. The city's event listing shows the ceremony from 2 to 3 p.m. Confirm details with Arlington Parks, Recreation and Culture at 817-459-5474 before you go.

Pradeep Muraliram, a business management freshman at the University of Texas at Arlington, built SocriaAI, an app that asks users questions instead of giving direct answers, according to The Shorthorn.

The tool draws on Socratic questioning, metacognition and first-principles thinking. Its newest feature, a mind graph, maps the topics a user has discussed so ideas can be seen connecting over time. Muraliram built it with Claude Code and GitHub and says humans should remain responsible for meaningful judgment.

The app has about 300 users and is free for UTA students during their first month. A first workshop was held October 5. One student user said it has potential but may leave people more lost on specialized subjects such as math and engineering.

Communication freshman Madison Carby handles creative and branding work and says the team is currently just her and Muraliram. The report offers no usage or learning-outcome data.
